Money Magic: Stopping the Disappearing Act
February 19th - March 11th

Picture
Ever feel like your money is the main act in a magic show, the act where something disappears and you have no idea how it happened?  Unlike some magic tricks it never reappears and it isn’t an illusion.  Month after month money comes into your hands and disappears so fast that you don’t know where it is going or how to stop it.  Join us at The Bridge as we dig into challenging issues like our desire to acquire, uncontrolled spending, lasting investments and much more in this new series, Money Magic: Stopping the Disappearing Act.
2-19-2012 - The Desire To Acquire
There’s always something newer and better.  There are many others that have more than I have.  It’s not just about the Jones’s, but the Millers, the Lees, and the Martinez family as well.  I look around and can’t help it.  Or can I?  What if I learn how to be content and not go after every new item that comes along?  Money might not disappear as quickly if I learned how to control theDesire to Acquire.
2-26-2012 - An Episode of Hoarders
Saving money is smart and a great way to stop the disappearing act.  But what if what we have looks more like an episode of “Hoarders” than sound financial decisions, because the only thing we’re saving for is ourselves and a rainy day?  What if the rainy day never comes?  Then what will be the point of all we’ve saved?  Join us as we examine the wisdom of saving without taking it to the extreme of hoarding.
3-4-2012 - A Plastic Prison
The average U.S. credit card debt per household is $15,799.00.  That is just the average.  Some have debt that is far higher, creating the feeling of being trapped in a plastic prison.  It seems impossible to stop the disappearance of money to all the interest and debt repayment which is owed month after month.  What if we could understand how we spend and learn to create healthy patterns in our spending to change that trend?  Come out to The Bridge as we endeavor to be freed from A Plastic Prison.
3-11-2012 - Lasting Investments
With all this talk of money disappearing, is there any real way to make it last?  Since we can’t take it with us, won’t it all ultimately disappear anyway?  The real Money Magic happens when we partner with God and invest money in what God is doing in the world.  Gather with us as we learn about God’s Money Magic and how the intentional disappearance of money through giving will cause it to re-appear in a lasting way

The Core January 8th - Feb 12th 2012

Picture
Deep down inside the earth lies its core -- the center around which everything else is built.  It is not only foundational to the planet but also instrumental in its survival.

The core of a person is where movement originates.  Developing core muscles improves a person's overall strength, stability and balance.

Likewise, what a group of people holds essential and important at their core will determine the strength and stability of every other part.  Those essentials are also crucial in determining the direction of the group

As the Bridge ventures into 2012, we're going back to The Core.  Join us as we focus on the foundation of what the Bridge is all about and who we desire to be.
Belonging by acceptance. We believe people need relationships, with God and others, in which they will be received with non-judgmental love.  We desire to give people the right to explore, ask questions, and voice doubts in a community that accepts and expresses the love of God.

Relating with relevancy. We believe in meeting people where they are on their spiritual journeys.  We desire to express faith within the context of real life in today’s world.

Identifying with Jesus. We believe in the significance of a connection with the authentic Jesus.  We desire to develop a faith that is based on a relationship with Jesus rather than a religion about Jesus.

Developing healthy people. We believe God guides people into meaningful life-transformation which impacts every area of life in a healthy way.  We desire for God to continually develop people in who they are and how they live.

Giving compassionately. We believe Jesus modeled compassionate giving.  We desire to encourage people to give and serve generously outside of themselves.

Extending the mission of Jesus. We believe a relationship with Jesus changes a person’s perspective on the world.   We desire to join Jesus in his mission – locally, regionally, and globally.
