Kidz ConnectionsEach week, BridgeKidz talks about the same stuff that the grown ups are talking about in their meeting and every week, we post a special Kidz Connection to help you and your kids continue the discussion throughout the week. The Kidz Connection below corresponds with the latest Life Connection.
2/26/2012 - An Episode Of Hoarders QUESTIONS: Which of your toys is the hardest for you to share with other kids? What does it feel like when you have to share your favorite toys? How many of the toys that you have right now do you still play with? Would you feel okay with giving some of them up? What are you saving your money for? What do you like to spend your money on? ACTIVITIES: Read the story in Luke 12:15-21 Look over how you’ve spent your money for the last month. What were some ways you spent on yourself that you could do away with? Brainstorm with your kids some ways you could save money that would be beneficial to others. Maybe you could start putting money aside in a jar that can be spent on someone else when you see a need arise. Encourage your kids to contribute to the fund as well. 2/19/2012 Money Magic - The Desire to Acquire QUESTIONS 1. What does it mean to be content? 2. What does being “in need” look like? 3. What does having “enough” look like? 4. What do you want more of? ACTIVITIES 1. At dinner or bedtime, ask your child to list five things for which they are thankful. These simple lists can turn into nightly prayers. Try keeping a gratitude journal at the breakfast table, and have kids draw or write about things for which they are thankful. 3. Give your teens a reality check. Have your teenagers sit with you and go over your budget amounts for things like entertainment, food and housing. 4. When kids get the “gimmies”, offer to put the item on a list of things that they would like. Give them an empty jar to save for the item. They can put pictures on the jar as reminders of what they want and why they are saving. 5. Read Philippians 4:11-13. |
